"OBAMA BLUES"

The day after Barack Obama became the Democratic nominee for President, I took to the streets and asked people what they would say to Barack if they had the chance. "Obama Blues" was made up on the spot by subway musician and Mississippi Delta blues man, Floyd Lee. www.floydlee.com

"What I love best about New York City"

This is my entry into the I Love NY Short Film Competition, all of these people were ‘found’ on the street by my camera and it’s what I love best about New York.....the people.

"I Love NY For The People"

Compiling all my footage during the past year. My entrant to the New York Women and Film, I Love NY Short Film Competition. My friend Steve Karmen who wrote the "I Love NY" theme kindly let me use it, he wrote it in 1977 and it became the state song in 1980! Thanks Steve!

"You're Missing"

Remembering Tim Russert, Father's Day 2008
I didn't realize the effect Tim Russert had on my life until I cut this together. My sadness was overwhelming at times. Springsteen dedicated "Jungle Land" to Tim last night from his European tour and Tim was his #1 fan, so I don't think he'd mind me borrowing "You're Missing" it just seemed so perfect and perfectly sad.

"Who you gonna believe, me or your lyin eyes?"

Keith Olbermann said to Scott McClellan, I'm asking this for every person who came up to me on the street and said, "I feel like I'm going out of my mind living through this, this cannot be the America that I grew up in. Were the critics in the media and outside the media of the President largely.....right?" So I asked a few folks what they thought of the McClellan book

"PATTI AUSTIN sings "Lean on Me" to QUINCY JONES!"

Grammy Winner Patti Austin sings "Lean on Me" at a birthday party for her Godfather, the legendary Quincy Jones, at the Cafe Carlyle on his 75th birthday.

"GOVERNOR ELIOT SPITZER, WAS THAT $4,300 AN HOUR...PLUS TIP?"

I went out 8:30pm the night New York's Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned for having sex with a prostitute and asked people what he could possibly have gotten for $4,300 for one hour with hilarious results. My Schlockumentary® was posted on YouTube by 6am the next morning.

"HISTORY OF THE TELEVISION COMMERCIAL"

In 1992, I was asked by the late great Phil Dusenberry, when I was a producer at BBDO to produce a history of the television commercial for the 4AAAA's. My editor friend Mike Douglas and I sat in a tiny closet for weeks compiling this amazing piece.

"SUCKO ON SOCIAL SECURITY!"

I pay $7,200 a year for health insurance and I have NEVER filed a claim. My policy was cancelled because I was a day late with the premium. George Bush says I should go to the emergency room if I don't have health insurance. So, I took to the streets and found out I wasn't alone.

"SUPERDELEGATES.....huh?"

I was SO confused as to what Superdelegates are and how much their votes count. For instance, Did you know Superdelegates get 10,000 votes to your one?

"DANIEL & THE DECIDER"

The night of September 29, my friend, Daniel Ellsberg ("The Pentagon Papers") appeared on The Colbert Report. I had a chance to chat with Dan about King George The Decider and our Constitutional crisis! Daniel is a true American hero, as an official in the State Department, he hand Xeroxed (before Kinkos) 7,000 pages of the Pentagon Papers, and 'leaked' them to The New York Times 35 years ago! Dan maintains similar plans are afoot to drop a "nucular" bomb on Iran.

"THANK YOU BILL MAHER BLUES?"

We were all jonesing in New York during the writers’ strike, and we all love Bill Maher!

"KNOCK! KNOCK!!"

Although I am a redhead and my mother was a Higgins, I never really considered myself Irish, until I went there for the first time. Thank you Seamus and Turlough, it wouldn't have been possible without you.

"SHADOW BOXER"

Voted #1 on Current TV! <http://www.currenttv.com>
When I met Irish Boxer, Seamus Patrick McDonagh on a street corner, he pulled out this dog-eared photo, “That’s me knockin the lunch out of Holyfield.” The photo, which I would learn, saved his life and would change mine forever. A charismatic contradiction of a man, graduate with honors from St John’s University with a powerful left hook. The Golden Gloves Heavyweight Champion, all knock-outs, had never been knocked down in his career, until, 1990, when against all odds, he fought Evander Holyfield for the Heavyweight Championship.

"SEAMUS PATRICK McDONAGH: PAUL SIMON'S THE BOXER"

When I first interviewed Seamus Patrick McDonagh, I asked him to read the lyrics to Paul Simon's magnificent prose, "The Boxer", what happens is pure, heartbreaking magic.

"TELLING JOKES IN AUSCHWITZ" Winner of the first IFP/CURRENT TV COMPETITION

Now airing on Current TV to 38 million daily, "Telling Jokes In
Auschwitz"is about finding laughter in the last place you might think to look. In 1944, Werner Reich was in the Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, his life randomly selected by Josef Mengele the infamous Angel of Death. Werner is one of the surviving 96 "Birkenau Boys" spared, it seems because of a bad joke. This 'pod' was voted to #1 on Current TV and won the Current TV/IFP Competition and was screened at The Angelika Theater.

Steve Tyrell and the legendary Mac Rebennack better known as Dr John went into a New York Studio on January 3, 2006 to record a song for Steve's new "Disney Standards CD". I only had two takes, so it was shot in 6 minutes! It was used in the Electronic Press Kit for Steve's new "Disney Standards" CD.

"TWILIGHT BALLET"

I shot this in one 5 minute take. While walking along the East River at dusk on a summer evening, I happened upon this magical moment. I ran home to get my camera. It was shot in one take as the sun set. Not only do these lovely dancers from the MorganScott Ballet perform on the world stage, but they volunteer in the community teaching inner city kids ballet. www.morganscottballet.org

My buddy Walt and I went to The Great White Way, we came up with the premise that he couldn't afford the ticket price so he'd back in to the theater and review the second act of Broadway shows. We shot this in one hour. It was our second Schlockumentary®.

"THE MAGICIAN OF AUSCHWITZ"

In 1944, as a teenager in the Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Werner Reich shared his bunk with a magician named, "Levine". By a remarkable coincidence, when "The Great Nivelli" (Levine spelled backwards), who was known as the "Magician of the Holocaust", died in 1972 in New York. Werner recognized his tattoo as being that of the man who taught him magic.

"CIVIL WAR CABBIE"

I got into a cab in New York City and the cabbie told me of a dream he had that he was with Abraham Lincoln when he was shot. We just 'may' have proved that we come back. At the very least, it's a great New York City story!

"TIMES SQUARE, IRELAND"

Seamus Patrick McDonagh, Golden Gloves Heavyweight champ, who fought Evander Holyfield for the Heavyweight title in 1990, hails from County Mayo, Ireland. This week, we went to Times Square to tell folks, who all seemed to be from Ireland, about the new Ireland West Knock Airport.

"APPEARING ON CURRENT TV TO 38 MILLION VIEWERS "

I shot Seamus Patrick McDonagh, the Shadow Boxer, after meeting him on a street corner. Within 3 weeks, we were voted to #1 on Current TV (Al Gore's network www.currenttv.com) We are now running on the Current TV television channel (check local listings) reaching 38 million viewers! And Seamus and I did it all by ourselves. So there.

"ANGEL BABY"

When I was Media Director for The History of Guardian Angels, I took 25 years of archival footage I edited in iMovies...don't ask. The performance is Kenny Vance's version of the great Rosie and the Originals "Angel Baby".

"WALT FRASER: OPERA LIFE COACH"

Walt Fraser, sometime Life Coach, sometime Opera Singer, full time Improvactor and I shoot these little "Episodic Webisodes" in about an hour. We never know what we're going to shoot, it's improvisational "Instatainment" and it's so much fun!

"THE ORIGINAL JAY AND THE AMERICANS: ONLY IN AMERICA"

In one of the great turnabouts in Rock & Roll history, The group Jay & The Americans, started by 4 teenage boys in Sandy Yaguda's Brooklyn basement 40 years ago, with an unprecedented 12 hit records in the top 10, to their credit, Opening for the Rolling Stones AND the Beatles first trips to the US, have reunited as the greatest rock band to come out of Brooklyn EVER.

"ANGELS ON CHRISTOPHER STREET"

Traveling "Off The Beaten Path" with Walt Fraser is a trailer for what I call Episodic Streaming Branded Entertainment. Walt, a New York comedian, and I go out with my camera, come up with a premise, and shoot in an hour or less.

ST PATRICK'S DAY PARADE: NYC LOVES THE NEW ORLEANS POLICE DEPARTMENT."

I shot this in about an hour at the St Patrick's Day Parade in March. I just went up to people and asked them to say hi to the New Orleans Police Department and I can't watch it without smiling. Everybody was so accommodating but then again most of them were pretty drunk. It was so much fun follwing the aroma of beer and the green line up Fifth Avenue. Sure am happy I stopped drinking.

This is a true story, I shot this in 5 minutes at LaMella Restaurant in Little Italy. Cooking tips from the Big House. Tip #1. How to cook pasta behind, or more accurately, BETWEEN, the bars.

I love shooting live music most of all, the sound is off the mic on my camera and it's all hand held, these are a few of my friends, all run and gun, single camera, shot at 24P.

"ACID REIGN: THE FAREWELL TOUR OF MANHATTAN"

This was so much fun to shoot, it was like sitting in with the band. This is rare footage of The Acid Reign Farewell Tour of Manhattan at the end of last year. These whacky cats actual play for free, as a matter of fact they pay to play for free: Chris Palmaro, best known as one of the top keyboard players, kills on Drums, The spectacular and ubiquitous Joe Caro on guitar, legendary Sax player James Campagnola on Bass and the astounding and Sophia Ramos channels Hendrix vocals. Sadly, the only place you will ever see what is sure to become a cult band is right here! I shot the last three performances on my Panasonic DVX100A

"THE DACHSHUND PARADE"

My first DOGumentary. This was the first video I ever shot. Once again, shot in an hour. I couldn't stand up for a week getting that doggie POV. Thousands of weenie dogs waddle into Washington Square Park for the annual Dachshund Parade. Murray wrote the song for his beloved Sparky.
